COVID-19 Update

Northland and Chartwells are working with the Ashland County health inspector to provide food service consistent with health and safety requirements. Chartwells is following all recommend guidelines and serving modifications in all locations. There is limited social distance seating, packaged meals, and take-away options. All spaces have signage denoting the one-way traffic flow.

The campus store is open and is following all health guidelines, including clearly routed one-way traffic. In addition to the cafeteria, there are two alternative dining spaces located in the Alvord Theatre and the SOEI Sentry Room.

Sanitized seating in designated dining spaces is marked with a green card. When you are finished eating, turn the card over to red so Chartwell’s staff knows to re-sanitize the area for the next guest.

Northland College is proud to have a strong local foods initiative. We work with twenty-plus farms and businesses within one hundred miles of campus, as well as our very own campus gardens, supply the cafeteria with vegetables, fruits, herbs, jams, cider, pork, beef, Lake Superior fish, flour, cheese, eggs, fermented vegetables, bread, granola, honey, maple syrup, ice cream, and coffee.

In addition to sourcing as much local food as we can, we do our best to keep you and the planet healthy with cage free eggs, antibiotic-free chicken and pork, sustainable seafood, and zero trans fats oils in all our cooking.
