The social media assistant will work with creative team to brainstorm, implement, and manage consistent content on Northland’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook channels. This position requires a commitment of about six hours per week and can be customized to fit a writing or business internship for the right candidate.

Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with communications director to create monthly plans for social media
  • Taking photos, working with images, and writing copy for posts about student life and campus events
  • Identifying exceptional and brand-appropriate photos for sharing
  • Social listening (commenting, responding, following)
  • Pursuing passions to incorporate into the job (e.g. video, particular campaigns, illustration)
  • Communicating with students, faculty, and staff regarding campus events, and sharing photos
  • Doing a bit of  reporting to add depth to certain posts

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Required qualities:

  • Strong writing skills with attention to detail and respect for grammar and spelling
  • Interest/appreciation for photography and what makes a strong image
  • A desire to tell the Northland College story—and communicate that story
  • Energetic and engaged with campus
