The law internship in our office allows students to gain experience working with many types of law including, but not limited to: family, criminal, and civil. Interns perform basic tasks for office management such as filing and processing mail, but also have ample opportunity to perform legal research, draft legal documents, and shadow in court proceedings.
This internship can focus on legal writing to meet the 3-credit internship requirement for writing majors.
Student interns are generally responsible for filing and working on mail on a day-to-day basis. They also brief legal research and draft letters often. Good research habits and writing ability is preferred. Foremost, this is a teaching position, and student interns must be open to learn many aspects of working in a law office.
