Faith In Action –Ashland County connects senior citizens with caring volunteers who provide a variety of services to help the seniors live independently.

The Faith In Action intern will get an opportunity to become familiar with the various aspects of running an active and vibrant non-profit program.

Responsibilities/involvement may include:
Recruiting “tabling” at Northland College and other sites
Data entry of information on volunteers and care receivers
Assist with writing, layout, and distribution of FIA newsletter
Assist with mailing projects
Assist with writing/designing publicity—radio, poster, articles, church bulletin outreach
Participate in any grant-writing taking place during that semester period
Participate in home visits conducted with senior citizens
Help conduct an orientation session for new volunteer
Assist with Faith In Action social media
Become familiar with the other services offered through the Ashland County
Aging Unit such as the Meals on Wheels, Elderly Benefit Specialist, Aging Unit Transportation programs
Participate as an active volunteer providing services directly to seniors
Participate on the FIA Advisory Council as a member
Attend various meetings/trainings in the community with Faith In Action Program Coordinator
Intern is encouraged to take on special project of their interest to assist FIA
Fall semester interns will assist with:
Planning and carrying out the Mexican Dinner and Raffle fundraising event and any other fundraising events held in the fall.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

This internship will require 8-10 hours a week. Hours of the internship are flexible, working with the schedule of the intern and the Program Coordinator’s schedule. The applicant should have an interest in working with a non-profit serving an elderly population. The applicant should have computer skills using programs such as Xcel, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word and be skilled in social media posting. The ideal candidate will be personable and comfortable with the senior population. The intern will need to be flexible as responsibilities can change from day to day.
