This internship will expose students to a variety of experiences related to managing the various departments that are part of Bayfield County’s government and their staff. Students will assist with office and clerical work as well as have exposure to leadership in community and government. This position will benefit students who are interested in going into business, especially Human Resources, policy, or community leadership positions.
Bayfield County is the second largest county in Wisconsin in area and contains approximately 966,000 acres with a greatly varied landscape. It has twenty-five towns, two cities, and one village, with a 2010 census population of about 15,000 residents.
Bayfield County’s main industries are agriculture, recreation, education, forestry, woodworking industries, and commercial fishing.
This opportunity is best suited for a student with interest in public administration or human resources. A successful intern will have good writing and verbal communication skills, is flexible, and is self-directed. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel are required, and familiarity with other software programs is a plus. The work will take place in Washburn, WI, so reliable transportation to the internship site is also required.
