Share the love of winter sports by providing adaptive ski and snowboard instruction to individuals, families, and groups in a fun and effective learning environment. Deliver the highest caliber of service to each team member, guest, and visitor at the National Ability Center. Extend the opportunity to individuals who otherwise would not be able to ski or snowboard without the adaptive experience.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Attending pre-shift meetings to review assignments
  • Work with student’s goals and a basic lesson plan matched to their ability
  • Making sure individuals are comfortable with their equipment
  • Helping improve confidence levels of participants and families
  • Answering the questions of individuals taking part in lessons and individuals on the mountain about NAC
  • Making sure every participant is safe and having as good a time as possible
  • Communicate instructions to students during the lesson, including but not limited to directives, technique and feedback
  • Filling out paperwork and assessment forms after lessons have been completed
  • Enjoyment in effectively engaging volunteers in lessons and encourage others to volunteer with the National Ability Center
  • Provide family and/or group instruction to students with varying levels of skills utilizing a wide array of techniques and strategies
  • Implement and supervise safety/risk management protocols in a caring and fun environment for participants, volunteers and staff
  • Create a nurturing, positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures among staff, volunteers and community
  • Be a positive representative and promoter of National Ability Center programs, events, and activities in our community
  • Provide referrals of resources including in-kind and monetary donations
  • Commit to continuing education in your field utilizing internal and external resources to ensure our programs sustain continual responsiveness and improvement
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully with all staff, participants, parents, volunteers, management and co-workers
  • Be fully present and engaged while at work
  • Attend and engage in required staff meetings and training
  • Embrace and demonstrate National Ability Center core values
  • Other duties as specified
