A Playful Intro to Social Dancing: Connecting with Ourselves, Each Other, and the Music
LumberJack Lounge, Ponzio Campus Center

Humans have been dancing, singing, laughing, crying, making music together and embracing each other for thousands of years. Come with curiosity and we’ll explore new ways of listening and speaking musically with our bodies!

Ellie is a public health nurse, body therapist, farmer, educator, community organizer, and all around squishy, tender-hearted human. Over the last twenty years, social dancing has opened a world to her that brings her deep joy, meaning, therapeutic expression and connections. She is committed to supporting you to experience the pleasure and fun of fully embodying the music and connecting with yourself and others.

Calming Anxiety
Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, WI

Anxiety is a normal emotion. It is a way that our brain reacts to stress and alerts us of dangers ahead. Our ancestors needed this feeling to keep safe from large animals.
Today, anxiety shows up in moments like when you need to take a test, or something troubling at work. It comes up often when you don’t know the outcome of an important moment or decision. Anxiety can also just show up and stay: keeping you awake at night, making it difficult for you to breathe when you are around a group of people, or as ruminating thoughts while you try to do other things.
Why does it do this?
What can you do for your anxiety?
Learn about the different forms of anxiety and how to calm it with pressure points, breathing, and herbs that support the body in calming down and breaking the cycle of anxiety.
Erica Macrum is a clinical herbalist and owner of Seeds of Well Being and Sweet Fern Apothecary in Washburn.
