The Environmental Council, Sustainability Workgroup, and Hulings Rice Food Center invite interested students, faculty, and staff to learn about invasive species and native plantings on our campus through a hands-on workday. We will meet at the fire ring at 3 p.m., then split into groups to weed and maintain native plantings around campus, and work on eliminating invasive species in the ravine and other outlying areas. Bring work gloves if you have them, some will be on hand to borrow as well. This is a great chance for new students to get oriented to their natural surroundings on campus, learn about the ecology of our campus, and for all of us to give back to our community in a concrete way! Contact Kate Ullman, sustainability coordinator, with questions.
