Join Timber Wolf Alliance Coordinator Jordyn O’Gara and Timber Wolf Alliance Chair Adrian Wydeven for this wolf ecology volunteer certification course. Learn about wolf ecology, wolf monitoring techniques, and the latest wolf issues from biologists and educators immersed in this field. Time will be spent in the classroom and in the field surveying wolf pack territories. Participants will assist with wolf howling surveys and learn techniques in wolf tracking and radio telemetry.

This workshop meets the ecology qualifications for both DNR Volunteer Carnivore Tracker for winter wolf counts and the training for TWA Speakers Bureau. The workshop is open to any student or adult interested in wolves and experiencing them in the wild. Workshop fees include meals, bunkhouse accommodations, and all workshop materials.

The program takes place at Forest Lodge, a unique and historic estate nestled among 872 acres of majestic forest in the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and situated along the pristine shores of Lake Namekagon. The old growth forest and serene water is sure to awaken your senses and rejuvenate you.

Registration is limited to 8 people to meet state requirements of social distancing and to ensure each participant has their own room at Forest Lodge—throughout the workshop strict cleaning protocol will be followed to ensure everyone’s safety. Face masks will be required throughout program as well. Individual meals will be catered from a local restaurant to meet food safety requirements. We will also ask that participants use their personal vehicles for field surveying to maintain social distancing requirements – we will be traveling on well-maintained forest service roads.

Optional Speakers Bureau Training
TWA Speakers Bureau are trained volunteers interested in helping TWA spread knowledge about wolf ecology in their local communities. If this is something you are interested in, email us with questions about training. This optional training will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday.
