Current Condition and Future Concerns

Dr. Kate Miller is a plant ecologist with the National Park Service’s Inventory and Monitoring Program and leads long-term forest monitoring in twenty national parks from Virginia to Maine. In this presentation, Kate will provide an overview of how park management recommendations and approaches have changed over the last ten to fifteen years as better data have become available and in response to climate change. She will also highlight what we have learned from twelve-plus years of forest monitoring in eastern national parks, and will relate these findings to future concerns about the condition of eastern forests.
