Looking for a way to get out during the winter? Join Outdoor Pursuits for a winter frozen waterfall adventure! This winter hike will explore Copper Falls State Park, where you will experience snow-dusted trails, crisp air, and breathtaking winter landscapes, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This event is open to current Northland College students, faculty, and staff.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a beginner, this winter trek is designed for all levels. Dress warmly and layer up to stay comfortable as you immerse yourself in nature’s beauty. Transportation, lunch, and all equipment are provided.

Wilderness Medical Associates—Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course169 Larson-Juhl Center for Science and the Environment, 1411 Ellis Avenue, Ashland, WI
SOEI Outdoor Pursuits is partnering with Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) to host a three-day Wilderness First Responder (WFR) recertification course. This course is open to Northland College students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the public. Your course fee covers all instruction and course materials for all three days.
This course will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in 169 Larson-Juhl Center for Science and the Environment on the Northland College campus in Ashland, Wisconsin. Lunch is not included.
Housing Options
Optional accommodations will be available on site for an additional fee. Accommodations include options for a single room or a double room in one of our residence halls. For the duration of this course, pricing is set at $150.00 for a double room and $175.00 for a single room. Bathroom and kitchen access are included.

Course Eligibility
This course is open to anyone age sixteen or older who holds an unexpired WFR certification. Eligible certifications must have been earned from one of the following course types:A WFR course with a minimum of 72 hours of in-person instruction
A 72-hour hybrid course with a minimum of 45 hours of in-person instruction
A WFR Recertification course with a minimum of 16 hours of in-person instructionWMA WEMS graduates with a current EMS license may also recertify the wilderness portion of their Wilderness EMS (WEMS) certification with this course. WEMS graduates from other organizations are not eligible use this course to recertify their WEMS. If you are recertifying the wilderness portion of your WMA WEMS certification, you must notify the course provider of this information prior to the start of the course by emailing thansen@northland.edu.

Join Outdoor Pursuits for an afternoon of relaxation, restoration, and renewal! Recharge, reset, and renew your body and mind at our Sauna and Dip event at Maslowski Beach. This experience combines the healing power of heat therapy with the refreshing shock of cold immersion for a full-body reset that promotes circulation, reduces muscle tension, and enhances mental clarity. SOEI Outdoor Pursuits is partnering with Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) to host an eight-day Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course, the definitive wilderness course in medical training, leadership, and critical thinking for outdoor, low-resource, and remote professionals and leaders. The course is taught by professional instructors with significant patient care and backcountry experience.
The Wilderness First Responder program is the ideal medical training for leaders in remote areas, including outdoor educators, guides, military, professional search and rescue teams, researchers, and those involved in disaster relief. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments for days and weeks if necessary.
This course is open to anyone age sixteen or older—including Northland College students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public. Your course fee covers all instruction and course materials.
This course will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in 169 Larson-Juhl Center for Science and the Environment on the Northland College campus in Ashland, Wisconsin. Lunch is not included.
Housing Options
Optional accommodations will be available on site for an additional fee. Accommodations include options for a single room or a double room in one of our residence halls. For the duration of this course, pricing is set at $150.00 for a double room and $175.00 for a single room. Bathroom and kitchen access are included.

If a short-term illness or injury prevents the participant from attending the scheduled session, the participant may reschedule to another session of equal or lesser value, during the same year only, provided space is available. If the new session has a higher value than the original session, the participant must pay the difference in tuition. Refunds will not be provided for transferring into a session of lesser value.
